Model 808 Glassworking Safety Glasses - BoroTruView 3.0 - 5.0
The Model 808 is a comfortable and lightweight yet sturdy unifit nylon frame. Don't let the sharp-looking streamlined design fool you, this frame is all function. Rubber nose pads and rubberized temple bars provide comfortable grip while the wrap around design ensures that your eyes are protected. You can look good while you work with the Model 808.
Phillips BoroTruView 3.0 & 5.0 lenses are made for the true glassworking artist. These lenses are specially formulated to offer excellent color recognition when working with colored glass while still providing UV and IR protection. The gray IR filter is color neutral so you can easily see the different colors of the glass and the heat being applied. These revolutionary polycarbonate filter lenses are much lighter than conventional laminated and glass products. If you are working with smaller pieces the BoroTruView 3.0 is for you. For larger pieces like candlesticks and statues, you will need the BoroTruView 5.0.

A mirrored coating on an optical lens reflects the optical energies striking it. Both visible and invisible. Because all mirrors reflect all Infrared, they help remove heat from the eyes.
Silver mirrors reflect all Infrared(IR), some of the Ultra Violet (UV) and all visible colors.
Gold mirrors reflect all IR, more of the UV and a greater part of the orange and red spectrum. This tends to give the blue and green wavelengths more contrast.
The other colored mirrors absorb some of their apparent color (red, blue, green, etc) while also reflecting UV and IR. The apparent view derived increases the contrast of their opposite color (color compliment). Red/Green, Blue/Orange and so on.
Please note that this contrast effect in colored mirrors is very slight and the main reason for color choice is more aesthetic than functional. The base shade of the lens is the greatest influence of the view through the lens. The mirrors main function is to reflect Infrared.
